Apartment in Cape Town City Bowl
The two-bedroom apartment is located in the Old Mutual Building – lauded as one of South Africa’s greatest art deco treasures.Clean-cut contemporary furniture and finishings complement the open-plan living style. We minimised clutter to emphasis the generous lounge, dining and bar area. Leather, glass and chrome combine with textured fabrics and carpet to create a fresh, crisp yet relaxed feel.
Striking artwork and vivid hues re-enforce the masculine, partially industrial architectural design. The mezzanine at the top of the staircase leading to the upstairs bedrooms was transformed into a snug study space, while a circular room rising from the kitchen became an unobtrusive breakfast nook.
This room, with its double volume ceiling, was left without coverings on the windows, allowing a dramatic, uninterrupted view onto the core of the building.
